The latest bottling, also the New Longrow 14 yo, Burgundy wood from Springbank Distillers has arrived.

234 Bottles Nose:Mature and sweet. Tablet and confectionary. Palate:Blackcurrant; brambles. Rich, smooth and more-ish. Finish:A wonderful long finish. A cracking whisky. Well balanced. YES PLEASE

Glenlivet (Minmore) 1978, 35år, 57,3% (Sherry Wood)
438 Bottles Nose:Sweet sherry notes. Palate:Smooth sweet sherry notes. Cocoa and dunnage warehouses.Aged perfectly with excellent balance. Finish:A dry finish which lingers on and on.

Laphroaig 1998, 13år, 60,6%
270 Bottles Nose:Gooseberries; dry smoke; medicinal. Palate:Dry burning embers and peat. Finish:Excellent balance of smoke, peat, malt and dryness

Laphroaig 1998, 13år, 59,9%
Nose:Smoke, sweet medicinal toffee and seaweed. Palate:Dry smoke and peat; burning embers. Finish:Long dry burning embers.

Ardbeg 1994, 17år, 56,8%
Nose:Smoke, seaweed and oily fish. Palate:Creamy, sweet and smoky. Finish:Same as the palate but softer.

306 Bottles Nose:Wet sheep; oily and damp. Crofterʼs cottage. Palate:Peat and smoke. Wow! Bounces around the palate. Finish:Dry smoke lingers.

Auchentoshan 1999, 12år, 58,7%
234 Bottles Nose:Almonds, cola bottles and vanilla fudge. Palate:Smooth, sweet and creamy like butter icing. Finish:Lingering sweetness

Tomatin 1994, 17år, 51,4% (Sherry wood)
234 Bottles Nose:Nutmeg, cinnamon and treacle. Palate:Dry, burnt matches. Very smooth yet complex. Finish:A dry lingering sweetness.

Campbeltown CV Pack, 3 x 20cl, 46%
Hazelburn CV Nose: Passion fruit, malt, orange peel. As the nose opens up the sweetness & malt notes really come to the front. Sweet vanilla also comes through as the whisky breaths. Palate: The texture and body of this whisky is quite surprising. Subtly spicy notes hint at some sherry casks in the mix, however the velvet vanilla flavours are an indication that most of the Hazelburn CV has been matured in fresh bourbon casks. Finish: Lingering and mellow, with sweet malty notes Springbank CV Nose: The initial nose is a mix of subdued sherry sweetness, subtle peat notes, menthol & eucalyptus. Further nosing revealed a meaty character with complex hints of sesame oil and soy sauce Palate: Subtle sherry notes come through along with a depth of oak and spice. These then evolve into notes reminiscent of our traditional Dunnage warehouses. Finish: The flavours remaining are mainly coming from the sherry casks, although right at the end a hint of port tannins can be detected, perhaps suggesting the pedigree of casks used for the Springbank CV. Longrow CV Nose: Very creamy, vanilla custard. The smoke develops gradually, like a slow burning log fire, never overpowering but always reassuring. Like marshmallows toasted on a campfire -crisp on the outside and sticky sweet in the middle! Palate: Incredibly well balanced - rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint. The smoke is always present, washing over the palate in waves, like the soft billows of smoke from the kiln. Finish: The gentle smoke lingers and lingers leaving you yearning for more!
